Student Visionaries of the Year Western New York
Shannon O’Sullivan | Team Skip
Shannon's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser
When I was a Freshman, I had the honor of being a team member on the Brighton High School fundraising team for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am now a Junior and leading a team of my Brighton High School peers and alumni to raise as much money as possible over the next 7-weeks. Our goal is a world without blood cancers. While I was a team member, my Grandpa Skip was battling an aggressive and difficult to treat form of Lymphoma. Sadly, during that campaign my grandpa passed away and that is why I am now running "Team Skip" in his honor and memory.
My grandpa was in a clincal trial at Strong Memorial Hospital and I know that trials like these are available to people like my Grandpa because of fundraising efforts like this. Every dollar raised counts! The candidate whose team raises the most money earns the prestigious title of Student Visionary of the Year. I would be honored if you would help me earn this title for me and my team and help me honor my Grandpa Skip.
As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.
We are really getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers, but there is still much to do!
All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. They will not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.
Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere and my Grandpa Skip, thank you for your support! For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org.
Love, Shannon.
